2013 Life Science R & D Expenditures: 20th Ranked = $523,607,000 [1]

2014 NIH funding: $188,062,707 [2]

UC Davis Received Over $700 Million in Research Funding in 2014 [3]

In 2014, the University of California, Davis Health System received over $220 million in external research funding. [4]

The University of California, Davis Cancer Center provides 225 scientists with $85 million in research funding for 384 projects to improve cancer care through better detection and new therapies. [5]

UC Davis has almost 1,000 basic science, translational and clinical research studies in progress, all made possible through state and federal funding as well as grants and funding from private foundations; pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and philanthropic donations. [6]

In July of 2012, UC Davis researchers were granted $53 million in awards towards stem cell research and development and to bring results to the clinical trial phase. $20 million of this funding is allocated towards Huntington's disease. [7]

UC Davis researchers were awarded a $20 million grant to refine stem cell therapy for osteoporosis sufferers and to run clinical trials for a period of 4 years to determine the therapy's efficacy. [8]

UC Davis Medical Center has been awarded $10 million in funding from the new Research Investments in Sciences and Engineering (RISE) program. [9]

UC Davis received a $9.3 million grant to open the West Coast Metabolomics Center, a high tech consortium of various labs that will assist in the development of treatments for diabetes, cancer and atherosclerosis. The facility is housed within the UC Davis Genome Center and opened in October of 2012. [10]

The UC Davis MIND Institute is now one of only fifteen Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers in the country. Transition into this program is made possible by a five-year $6.5 million NIH grant and gives the institute critical new resources that will accelerate its progress in neurodevelopment research. [11]

UC Davis Medical Center received a $5.1 million grant over five years to Enhancing Minority Participation in Clinical Trials (EMPaCT) from The National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). [12]

UC Davis Medical Center has received a grant for $4.4 Million from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) for tissue - engineering research. [13]

Director of the MIND Institute at UC Davis Medical Center received a $3.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct an examination of the development of individuals with fragile X syndrome. [14]

UC Davis started a 100K pathogen Genome project with PacBio SMRT. The combined technology will be used to sequence the genomes from at least 1,000 food-borne pathogen samples to completion, and to elucidate their epigenomes. [15]

UC Davis in partnership with BGI (world's largest genome sequencing institute) is constructing a 9,500-square-foot facility, which will facilitate large-scale genome sequencing and functional genomics programs. Food security, the health and wellness of humans and animals, biodiversity and environmental health will be the main initial focus. [16]

The University of California, Davis received a $3 million Cancer Center Support Grant from the National Institutes of Health in 2013. [17]

The National Institutes of Health gave the University of California, Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center $2.8 million in research funding in 2013. [18]

National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences awarded UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center $3 million. [19]

$1.5 million grant from National Cancer Institute to use biophotonic technology with a robot surgical arm to improve the precision of head and neck cancer surgery. [20]

UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Core Center received $1.3 million from the National Institute of Aging. [21]
