NSF 2008 Ranking: 43rd (total R&D expenditures in life sciences) = $253,072,000 [1]

In 2009, the NIH awarded Oregon Health and Science University over $177.6 million in research funding, with over $146.9 million going to the Schools of Medicine. [2]

Oregon Health & Science University received $392 million in total research funding, setting a record over previous years. $70 million was provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). [3]

Oregon Health & Science University’s Knight Cancer Institute received more than $7.75 million in grants to research breast cancer and develop new methods of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma treatment. [4]

Oregon Health & Science University received a $5 million gift to develop nonsurgical treatment for malignant brain tumors. [5]

OHSU Portland is dedicated to biomedical research, patient medical care and training health professionals and scientists. The university comprises schools of medicine, dentistry and nursing. It also includes several hospitals, clinics and research facilities, including the Biomedical Information Communication Center, Casey Eye Institute, Vollum Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research, the Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology and the Neurological Sciences Institute.
